Witchboard
Witchboard is a reimagining of the 80's cult classic. The film follows Emily (Madison Iseman) who unearths an ancient spirit board with a dark history. Those closets to her begin dying in strange, shocking ways Alongside her boyfriend Christian (Aaron Dominguez) and their friend Brooke (Mel Jarnson) she starts experimenting with the board, only to realize they’ve awakened something far more dangerous than they expected. They turn to Alexander (Jamie Campbell Bower) as the line between reality and possession begins to blur, putting all of them at risk.
I really wanted to love Witchboard, especially given the creepy premise and the cult legacy behind the original, but this one just didn’t land the way it should have.
On paper, it’s a solid setup classic supernatural horror with plenty of potential for tension and psychological scares. Unfortunately, the execution feels flat. The characters, especially Emily, never fully develop beyond surface-level motivations, making it hard to feel invested in their fate. Christian avoid bullets like he's Neo and Campbell is just really dislikable with the Daenerys triplets .
Where the film really struggles is in its pacing and scares. Moments that should feel intense or unsettling are rushed, and the horror relies too heavily on predictable jump scares instead of building genuine dread. There are glimpses of atmosphere some scenes with the board itself are genuinely eerie but they’re too few and far between.
Visually, it has a polished look, but it never fully commits to its darker themes. It feels like a missed opportunity to explore something more disturbing and memorable.
Overall, Witchboard isn’t terrible it’s just disappointing. With a stronger script, deeper characters, and more commitment to its horror elements, it could have been something special.

Apex
Apex staring Charlize Theron & Taron Egerton arrived on Netflix 24th April
It’s a survival/horror thriller.
It’s got tribal lore, pointy teeth and cannibalism. Which is enough to put you off your jerky, no spoilers incase you want to check it out yourself.
Apex tries hard to deliver a gritty, high-stakes action experience, but it never quite reaches the level it’s aiming for. Sasha (Charlize Theron) loses her husband Tommy (Eric Bana) during a summit climb. Retiring from mountains she heads to Wandera National park, she meets Ben (Taron Egerton) and the fun ensues.
The premise has potential, setting up a tense survival scenario with some interesting themes around power and control. But I feel like the execution falls short, the pacing drags in places, and the script doesn’t give the characters enough substance to feel fully invested in what’s happening. Even Theron, who usually commands every scene she’s in, feels underutilised here. There’s an expectation of intensity and depth but unfortunately, the film feels surprisingly flat.
The action sequences are decent but not particularly memorable, lacking the edge needed to stand out in an already crowded genre. The film has a dark, moody tone, there is one shocking moments and a prequel would be cool but Overall, Apex feels forgettable. It has moments where it almost clicks, but never quite gets there.

I know what you did last summer 2025
I know what you did last summer released in 2025
When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. One year later, the past comes back to haunt them as they learn someone knows what they did last summer. Stalked by a mysterious killer, they soon seek help from two survivors of the Southport massacre of 1997.
I think with the increase of these iconic horror revisits they walk a very fine line, I know what you did last summer 1997 is in my opinion a cult classic so if you going to take this on you better bring everything you have.
It does bring the return of Julie James (jenifer love Hewitt) the final girl, who now teaches how to cope with trauma which I love it's given her a purpose to go on and help others & Ray Branson (Freddie prinze jr) The pair are no longer together & its icy between them. Ray has remained in Southport & the city officials have gaslight everyone & the Southport massacre of 1997 didn't happen (ignorance is bliss & all that). The story brings old friends together for Danica Richard's (madalyn clone) bridal shower. The new group Danica, Teddy (the groom), Ava, Stevie & Wyatt drive up that same road and Ofcoarse an accident causes a car to go over the Clift instead of helping they ring the police & tail it out of there leaving teddy father (the town mayor) to clean up. Fast forward one year, everyone arrives in town for Danicas bridal shower, her and Teddy have split and there's a new groom to be. They got a note and we know how it goes.
I enjoyed the movie, give me a cheesy slasher any day, however, who has a sliding door as their front door that is madness to me just anyone can come and go where's the security and then who came up with the idea Ray should be one of the killers ? Let's just really think for one moment, Ray who has survived twice knowing the fear of fighting for your life then goes onto take the fisherman's mantle, I get he was helping Stevie he promised her dad he'd take care of her blah blah but really ???? Stevie came out of left field it felt like they couldn't come up with a storyline and just rock paper scissored it ! I do love the fact they brought Helen Shivers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) back though that was cool.
All in all I liked it, I'd give it a solid 5/10, Ray didn't make sense to me but I did like the open ended final scene, so they may do a continuation and I can't lie I'd watch it too.
let me know your thoughts ??? I'd love to know
it is available to watch on Prime Video Ill link it below
Hey I’m watching I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025). Check it out now on Prime Video!
Sinners 2025
Released on April 3rd 2025 staring Micheal B Jordan, it won 4 awards at the 98th academy awards it has a 97% on Rotton tomatoes and 7.5 on IMBD.
Sinners heavily leans into the mythology of blues musicians making deals with the devil at Mississippi crossroads, selling their souls for talent, legends of musicians whose music is so true it can “pierce the veil” between life and death attracting supernatural entities.
The music acted as a magic spell which allowed the community to escape their struggles.
the narrative blends multiple belief systems
Hoodoo: practiced by Anne for ancestral protection
Christianity: represented by the local churches offering sanctuary but sometimes portrayed as opression
Choctaw lore: indigenous hunters highlighting a long standing conflict.
The story follows twin brothers Elijah “Smoke” Moore and Elias “Stack” Moore when they return to their home town of Clarksdale Mississippi. The brothers buy an old sawmill in Clarksdale to open as a juke joint for the local black community using money they stole while working with the Chicago outfit.
Smoke is a stoic no nonsense pragmatist, he deeply loves his estranged wife Annie (played by Wunmi Mosaka) and their child (deceased). He is fiercely protective of his brother Stack and his cousin Sammy (played by Miles Caton).
Stack is the more free spirited and charming, he lied to protect others mainly his love interest Mary (played by Hailee Steinfeld) although mixed race her mother was black and her father white she can pass as white so Stack wanted to protect her, sacrificing his life with her.
Sammie is the young cousin of the twins and an incredible musician the scene when he’s preforming beautifully blending together historical and future performers which isn’t something you expect in a horror but I’m here for it. His love interest Pearline (played by Jayme Lawson) representing themes of lust and temptation as a married women.
The twins blow through town gathering up their former friends for opening night.
Remmick (played by Jack O’Connell) an ancient vampire and Druid who embodies centuries of Irish colonial trauma. Drawing on legends of fae charm and the Irish myth of Abhartach, the lore portrays Remmick as a Devine resonance who uses music and magical forced dancing to dominate. He chooses undeath, not to become a predator but to preserve his culture after his people and temples were destroyed by colonization.
Sinners blends cinematic horror with the historical reality of racism and oppression, with characters like Hogwood and unpleasant bigot who leads a racist terrorist organization but he does meet the end he deserves.
I loved sinners it was incredible it was uncomfortable, beautiful but also full of gore, it was really well done really took you on an emotional ride.
It would be so interesting if the expanded on the universe with maybe a prequel about Remmick and his story.
you can watch Sinners on Now tv with a cinema pass or rent on Prime video, I’m giving this movie a solid 9/10
The Beauty
The beauty is from the beautiful mind of Ryan Murphy season one was released on January 21st, it has a 72% on Rotten tomatoes and 6.6 on IMBD .
The world of high fashion turns dark when international supermodels begin dying in a gruesome and mysterious way. FBI agents Cooper Madsen (played by Even Peter’s) and Jordan Bennett (played by Rebecca Hall and Jessica Alexander) are sent to Paris to uncover the truth. As they delve deeper into the case, they uncover a sexually transmitted virus that transforms ordinary people into visions of physical perfections, but with terrifying consequences. Their path leads them directly into the crosshairs of “The Corporation” a showdown tech billionaire ( played by Ashton Kutcher)who has secretly engineered a miracle drug dubbed “The Beauty” who will do anything to protect his trillion dollar empire, including unleashing his lethal enforcer, “The Assassin” (played by Antony Ramos). As the epidemic spreads, Jeremy (played by Jeremy Pope) a desperate outsider is caught in the chaos, searching for purpose as the agents race across Paris, Venice, Rome and New York to stop the threat that could alter the future of humanity.
Its star studded the opening scene shows Bella Hadid, Isabella Rossellini, Megan Trainor and Amelia Gray Hamlin.
Body horrors are the only thing that puts me off my food, I was eating tomato basil tortellini and i had to put it down the goo the melting people so gross i love a good gore fest but not that.
i found this really interesting this concept, if you could have an injection would you take it ? I don’t think i would, now i do love a procedure bit of filler, Botox, a Medicube skincare device and a full beat. I would have my teeth sorted i would also have a tummy tuck purely because after two children I have a mum tum so really it would just be putting things as they were but if those thing never happened i would be ok i love who i am and the scars and stretch marks tell my story so its really ok.
I just finished episode 11, The Beauty is available to watch on Disney + and i highly reccomend you check it out, just a maybe have your dinner first. I’m giving this series a solid 6/10.
Something very bad is going to happen
🩸 Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen
Currently on Netflix, from the minds that brought you Stranger Things
Soulmates, rituals, serial killers this show has it all, the whole way through all you feel is something bad is about to happen……….
The premise:
Rachel (Camila Morrone ) and her fiance Nicky (Adam Dimarco) travel to his family’s remote home for their wedding, from the very beginning the show weaponizes a single feeling ‘That something isn’t right’.
Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen is a psychological horror disguised as a wedding story and that contrast is exactly what makes it so effective. What should be the happiest week of someone’s life becomes a creeping descent into dread, paranoia, and ultimately, something far more sinister………..
Rather than relying on jump scares, it leans heavily into lingering tension and unease. Every conversation feels slightly off. Every room feels like it’s hiding something. The show builds a suffocating atmosphere where even silence feels threatening.
The Characters
Rachel, raised in isolation by a paranoid father who instilled in her a sense of constant danger, she seeks stability and love with Nicky and his family.
Nicky, is a kind emotionally mature and romantic, yet he considers himself the black sheep of the family.
The Cunningham family, do not put your mind at ease, they aren’t welcoming or warm, Nicky’s parents Victoria Cunningham (Jennifer Jason Leigh) is the glue that holds the family together you can see that she does have a lot of love for her children, Boris Cunningham (Ted Lavigne) is deeply in love with his wife and would do absolutely anything for her. Nickys two siblings Portia (Gus Barney) who is very in your face, your going to do as your told and very much gets her own way which is the only way. Jules (Jeff Wilsburn) who is married to Nell (Karla Crome), Jules also has a son Jude (Sawyer Fraiser) Jude is actually the only one who acts welcoming to Rachel and shows her any concern. Lastly we have The Witness (Zlatko Buric) Or the Immortal man a stranger who skirts around the edges of Rachel and Nickys story, he asks pointed questions about ‘soul mates’ and ‘The one’ he hints that he knows more about the family’s curse then a stranger should.
💔 The Real Horror: Love, Doubt, and Commitment
What sets this the show apart from a typical horror is its theme, What if you’re about to marry the wrong person?
That question becomes the emotional and psychological core of the story. The supernatural elements especially the soulmate curse are terrifying, but they’re really just amplifying a very real human fear.
The idea that love might not be enough and that choosing wrong could literally destroy lives is where the show hits hardest. it turns
wedding anxiety, commitment issues and trust into something horrifying.
The lead performance (Camila Morrone as Rachel) is doing a lot of heavy lifting and it works, She really makes the unraveling feel real,
you question whether she’s paranoid, then you start believing her And then you’re just as trapped as she is.
That emotional grounding is crucial, because the story gets increasingly surreal and violent as it progresses.
🔥 The Horror Payoff (No Spoilers… but…)
Without giving too much away the show absolutely commits to its premise, What starts as subtle unease escalates into shocking reveals, brutal consequences And a finale that’s both tragic and disturbingly poetic.
The curse itself requiring you to marry your true soulmate or face deadly consequences is one of the most cruel and original horror concepts in recent Netflix shows.
⚖️ Not Perfect (But That Might Be the Point)
Even if you love it, there are some fair criticisms, The Pacing is very slow at times (definitely a slow-burn), the scenes are visually very dark and The story can feel intentionally disorienting.
But honestly? These “flaws” also contribute to the experience, The slow pacing forces you to sit in the dread and The darkness makes everything feel more uncertain.
🩶 Final Verdict
What makes Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen feel “excellent” isn’t just that it’s scary it's that it redefines what kind of fear it wants to leave you with it goes somewhere much more uncomfortable and makes you question your own life choices.
The show is about a cursed wedding, But underneath that, it’s about something way more relatable and way more disturbing.
How well do you actually know the person you love?
The horror doesn’t come from monsters or ghosts it comes from doubt and not just any doubt, the kind you ignore, the kind you push down and the kind that shows up at the worst possible moments by the end, the show isn’t just telling a story it’s holding up a mirror.
The show sticks with you because there’s no resolution, (which could hopefully lead to a second season) Instead, it leaves you with lingering questions, emotional discomfort And a sense that something is still wrong not because of what happens, but because of what it means.
The ending reinforces the show’s core message, Love isn’t enough if it isn’t right, sometimes, you won’t know until it’s too late and That’s a horrifying idea.
you could easily rewatch this series and i bet there are things you missed from the first time round.
⭐ A haunting, slow-burn psychological horror that weaponizes love, doubt, and commitment leaving you disturbed not by what you saw, but by what it made you feel.
⭐ Rating (honest take)
7/10 — A beautifully disturbing slow-burn horror that turns love into something terrifying.
Ready Or Not: Here I Come 2
Ready Or Not Here I Come 2,
When Ready Or Not exploded onto screens in 2019, it instantly became a cult classic. A horror/comedy, blending brutal violence with razor sharp satire. Now Ready or Not: Here I Come 2 attempts to raise the stakes, but does it survive the night?
A Bloody Legacy
The original Ready or Not followed Grace (Samara Weaving) as she married into a wealthy family holding a dark secret, a deadly wedding night tradition. Its mix of social satire, dark humor and explosive carnage made it stand out in modern horror.
The sequel leans heavily into the legacy, doubling down on the chaos while expanding the twisted mythology surrounding the Le Domas wealth.
Samara Weaving’s fierce return
The final girl at the center of all this crazy, Samara Weaving reprising her role as Grace. Once again, she balances panic, grit and a wicked comedic timing with ease. Her transformation from terrified, hunted bride to battle hardened survivor feels natural and the sequel smartly builds on that trauma instead of ignoring it.
Kathryn Newtons Addition
Faith is introduced as Graces estranged sister, her character holds a grudge, believing Grace abandoned her in a foster home after turning 18. This adds a new emotional layer to the high stakes survival horror. The role was actually created for Kathryn, the directors having previously worked with her on Abigail, wrote the role specifically for her to act along side weaving.
Bigger Stakes
Where the first film thrived on tight corridors and family dysfunction, Here I Come 2 expands the playing field. The game feels more elaborate, the traps more vicious and the satire shaper. The themes of generational wealth, power and capitalism are amplified.
However the sequel occasionally struggles under the weight of escalation. Bigger doesn’t always mean better. Some scenes felt they were purely there for cheap shock horror rather then to serve the storyline, though horror fans wont be disappointed, there are plenty of inventive kills and it does star the slayer herself Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Comedy vs Carnage
The original film’s magic came from its balance, the sequel walks a thinner line. The humor is darker and more biting bordering on just mean spirited. You may miss the more playful absurdity of the first film. Still the film maintains its signature mix of Brutal practical effects, sharp dialogue, twisted family dynamics and a final act that just goes off the rails.
Final Verdict
Ready Or Not: Here I Come 2 doesn't ride on the success of the first film, it doesn’t reinvent the deadly game, it escalates it. While it may not capture the shock of the original, it delivers enough blood, satire and chaos to satisfy fans for another round. Introducing Graces Sister Faith (Kathryn Newton) gives it a fresh take Graces isn’t just fighting for herself anymore she has to protect her sister.
It’s nastier, it’s louder and it proves Grace has earned herself the title of Final Girl.
Rating: 7.5/10
Ready or Not: Here I Come 2 is currently in Cinemas
if you enjoy Survival horrors then you may also enjoy, The Hunt starring Betty Gilpin and Hillary Swank, or Send Help starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien.
Cold Storage
Cold Storage (Starring Joe Keery, Georgina Campbell and Liam Neeson.
Cold Storage is the kind of chaotic, creature-feature horror that doesn’t take itself too seriously and honestly, that’s where it shines.
The film throws us into a biohazard nightmare involving a rapidly mutating organism locked away in a government facility. What starts as a contained problem quickly spirals into full-blown panic, blending sci-fi tension with dark, almost absurd humor.
Keery brings his signature awkward charm (very reminiscent of his Stranger Things energy) but adds just enough edge to make his character feel fresh rather than recycled. He’s easy to root for, even when the situation becomes completely unhinged.
The real star, though, is the creature itself grotesque, unpredictable, and genuinely unsettling. The film leans into practical effects and claustrophobic set design, which gives it that old-school horror feel fans of contained thrillers will appreciate.
That said, Cold Storage doesn’t always balance its tones perfectly. It jumps between horror and comedy in ways that can feel jarring, and some side characters don’t get enough development to fully land emotionally. But if you’re here for fast-paced tension, weird science, and a few genuinely gross-out moments, it delivers.
Final Verdict:
A messy but entertaining sci-fi horror ride that thrives on its energy and creature chaos more than its storytelling.
Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)
